How the site handles browser data, advertising technologies, and privacy.

Study progress: The current static modules store question progress, chapter completion, and theme preferences in your browser using local storage. That study progress is not transmitted to the site owner by the study application itself.

Advertising and cookies

This site may use Google AdSense or other advertising services. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to this site or other websites.

Users can manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. Additional opt-out information may be available at aboutads.info.

Consent management

For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, Google requires AdSense publishers serving personalized ads to use a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. The production site should configure Google Privacy & messaging or another certified CMP before personalized advertising is enabled for those visitors.

Study progress, notes, bookmarks, and mastery data are first-party functional browser storage and are not used by Step 2 Mastery to personalize advertising.

Analytics

If analytics or additional third-party services are added, this policy should be updated to describe the information they collect and the controls available to users.

Offline caching

Step 2 Mastery may use a browser service worker to cache same-origin study pages and local site assets for offline use. It does not cache third-party advertising scripts. Clearing this site's browser data removes offline caches along with locally stored study data.

Local study profiles and isolation

Study progress, mastery, notes, highlights, bookmarks, and review history are stored locally in the visitor’s browser under a randomly generated local profile identifier. Separate devices and separate browser profiles do not share this local study data.

Multiple local study profiles can be created on one browser for convenience. These profiles are not authentication: anyone with access to that same browser profile may be able to switch between them. For private separation on a shared computer, use separate browser or operating-system profiles.

Backup export is user-initiated and contains only the currently active local study profile. Step 2 Mastery does not automatically upload or synchronize these backups.
