How Step 2 Mastery develops, reviews, and presents educational material.

Original-content standard

Medical facts and widely accepted clinical relationships may be drawn from standard references, but the platform’s prose, tables, questions, answer choices, explanations, and learning aids are written independently rather than reproduced from copyrighted sources.

Question-writing standard

Practice items are original single-best-answer clinical vignettes. They may use the general structure of board-oriented reasoning, but they are not copied, reconstructed, or transcribed from NBME, USMLE, UWorld, AMBOSS, or other commercial assessments.

Evidence review

Guidance that changes over time is reviewed against authoritative primary sources before it is represented as current. Screening recommendations are checked against current final USPSTF statements; vaccine guidance is checked against CDC/ACIP sources; nutrition update-sensitive topics are checked against NIH ODS, ASPEN, and GLIM materials.

Clinical Sources & Review Log → records the principal sources and the most recent comprehensive review date.

Final vs draft recommendations

Draft recommendations are not silently substituted for final guidance. If a newer draft materially differs from a current final recommendation, the site labels that distinction and continues to identify which recommendation is actually final.

Corrections

Educational content can contain errors or become outdated. Material found to be inaccurate should be corrected promptly in the published version.
